The Flamin’ Mongrels are a very popular Low and Slow BBQ team competing on the Australasian BBQ Alliance (ABA) sanctioned BBQ circuit. We are based in Queensland. We currently have around six rotating team members.
The team has been competing since March 2015 in that short period we have entered many ABA sanctioned events including BBQ Wars in Port Macquarie, Burleigh BBQ, our local event on the esplanade at Miami in Queensland and Meatstock, Sydney’s largest competition.
Two of our team members were also invited to compete on the national TV show Aussie BBQ Heroes. During this epic competition, Adrian and Brett ran the team colours and picked up a win in the Aussie Sausage competition and then followed it up with a tied win in the Chicken category. They only just missed out on spot in the grand final after a cracker ‘Californian Fish Taco’ was fiercely defended by one judge. 2017 saw the team compete at 10 competitions nationally.

Smoking the Valley – Brisket Challenge – Manning Valley – 7th from 28 Teams – 6th Pork Ribs
Australian Brewery Kingsford Invitational – Sydney – 22nd from 32 Teams – 5th Lamb
Despite winning Grand Champion Team at the 2016 Rockhampton, we feel our best result has been placing 14th at the biggest BBQ competition outside of the USA. BBQ Wars in Port Macquarie hosted 96 teams and has the ‘who’s who’ of barbeque teams competing.
